Carroll County Emergency responders had a table top exercise for preparedness in the event when an emergency happens. The scenario was a plane crash at Big Sand Creek bridge. The officials went through in this exercise the steps to respond, beginning with the 911 call.
“Through this exercise we documented the coordinated effort in how we would respond and recover when an emergency like this occurred. This an important exercise for the county officials and first responders to plan and be prepared,” said North Carrollton Mayor Ken Strachan who is the county’s emergency management director.
The table top exercise which was turned into MEMA for the county’s emergency management performance grant, which is a significant source of funding for the county’s emergency management. In addition to law enforcement, 911 officials, emergency management, coroner, fire services, and volunteer organizations participated in the exercise. According to Mayor Strachan the Carroll County Emergency Management Agency was awarded $16,198.76 through the Emergency Performance Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for FY 2024.
