Calbrina Ward Woods, along with her organization, Blessing For All Empowered by Faith, Inc. and other supportive individuals in the area, all collaborated to open a warming center at the Winona Community House during the ice storm this week.
Woods and her team set out on a mission Sunday morning to prepare a warm place for anyone in the area in need of heat, shelter, and a hot meal. Blessing For All Empowered by Faith started accepting donations Sunday afternoon, and Woods was overwhelmed by the response they received.
“It’s an outstanding effort of the whole community,” Woods said.
This was bigger than just Montgomery County. Woods said three counties contributed to the cause along with a list of local businesses and individuals.
“Carroll County, Grenada County, and Montgomery County all pitched in,” Woods added.
Individuals in need of assistance managed to reach the warming center, where Woods and her team were able to aid at least a dozen people.
“We had up to 12 people in the building at one time,” Woods explained.
We are delighted with the efforts of Woods and her organization, Blessing For All Empowered by Faith, and look forward to sharing more details with you next week.
