Every time we leave home or return, we see it, and it is getting worse.
Our road has some kind of water seeping up in it. The water makes a little stream down the incline and comes through cracks in the paving and gravel.
The water has been paved over and the erosion it cases in the road fixed many times.
Yet, the small amount of water there becomes more and more until the road has a hole and trenches where the water continually, slowly, and persistently runs decaying the pavement.
Now we have to avoid the pits and holes when leaving home.
Have you ever thought about how small things can erode and hurt your relationship with God?
Maybe you got used to staying home during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and got out of the positive habit of attending your church with your fellow believers. Maybe you gave up your Bible study group and the support of fellow classmates. Perhaps you watched or listened to services, but then allowed being busy to stop you from even this type of worship.
Maybe you stopped reading your Bible and turned to secular wisdom for answers to your problems or encouragement. Prayer may have become a practice of your past.
These little streams of isolation from spiritual food, worship, and praise can erode away your peace and chip at your close walk with your Savior.
When we are left own to our own understanding, we can get confused, depressed, and develop a distorted view of ourselves and reality. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” God can clear your confusion and depression.
We all wonder why things happen in our lives—-why do troubles come? What can we do when we don’t understand what is going on around us?
God tells us that He is in charge of all things and we can trust Him especially in the hard times. He also reminds us that He is other than we are: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways Hightower than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9. Should we think we can totally understand Him? But we do know some things we can depend on.
God will not leave His believers and will protect them. He says in Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
When you are a Christian, you can claim and rest on the promises of God. To do so, you need to know God and those promises! Don’t flounder around in your own doubts and fears. Turn to God and let Him restore, renew, and redeem you and your time.
Psalm 57:1 assures us: “God is our refuge and strength, and ever present help in trouble.”
Stop the spiritual erosion in our lives and build our faith on the solid foundation of God’s Truth.
