Don’t mess with them. . .
don’t go to them . . .
People want to know; about dead loved ones, the future, and what happens after death.
The problem is——they look in the wrong, dangerous, sinful places.
The Bible tells us a strange, disturbing experience of Saul in I Samuel 28: 3-25. Read it yourself and pray that the Holy Spirit (if you are a Christian saved by the grace of Jesus Christ and your faith in Him) will reveal the truth.
Saul disobeyed God until God no longer spoke to him. King Saul was to be replaced by David. The Philistines were gathered to attack Saul, and he was worried. Samuel, the prophet of God, had died, and Saul could not go to him for advice before he faced the enemy.
Saul wanted to know what was going to happen, and he turned to a sinful way to try to find answers. He had lost his connection to God by his own actions and sins. So he decided to go to a forbidden method of seeking answers by going to the “witch of Endor,” a medium.
Some do the same things today. They don’t ask God, read the Bible, and pray; they look elsewhere for answers opening up the roads to evil and the demonic.
God had forbidden the practice of going to witches, mediums, sorcerers, and those connected to the Devil. Leviticus 19:31, “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.”
Saul had previously put all the mediums out of Israel, but he asked his servants to find one. They did. He disguised himself and went at night to see this woman known as The Witch of Endor. God had specifically said not to do this in Leviticus 20:6: “And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My Face against that person and cut him off from his people.”
Saul asked the woman to bring up the dead prophet Samuel.
The medium and Saul saw what they believed was Samuel who asked Saul why he had disturbed him. Saul asked Samuel what to do. Samuel asked Saul why he was asking him since “the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy?” Because Saul didn’t obey God, God would give the kingdom to David. Saul and his sons would die in battle.
Saul hadn’t repented. He turned to the forbidden to find answers.
Was it really Samuel? Did God intervene and send Samuel? Read and pray to know.
In any case, stay away from any hint of sin concerning the demonic.
Never go to the devil for answers.
