Reading a good book remains a favorite time for me and a trip to our library is equally enjoyable. With the holidays coming up, there are endless selections of reading material available. I remember checking out books for our children and grandchildren and watching their happy faces as they thumbed through "Where's Waldo" and the Nancy Drew books. Looking at my book shelf, I have accumulated books from many years back, and though I know there should be some to be donated, there is still something about books that makes that decision hard. Will I ever read these old ragged hard-back books that occupy space? Not likely, but someone might ask me why there is a biology book in the collection, and what will I do with a very old atlas, no doubt from a library book sale. Books will remain a treasure, and I do enjoy a Nancy Drew book at my age! Check out your library's book sales; you will find many treasures.
This past week I was delighted to see Bryan Cottingham in our library. On Thursday, Nov. 14, Bryan and Candy Chisholm Justice will present a book talk-signing at the Moore Memorial Church Education building. They have co-authored a book entitled "World vs. Bob Chisholm Surviving Small Town Radio". Friends, come join us for light refreshments at 11:30 a.m. with their program to follow at noon. Books are still a treasured gift! For those wanting a signed personal copy of this book, here is your occasion to do so. Candy and Bryan have written a memoir of small-town Mississippi, one they experienced, growing up in Winona. Friends of the Library are honored to present this event and encourage your support. They would enjoy seeing friends from near and far.
Thanksgiving has me searching for a new recipe, though everyone will still want the same traditional meal!
