Last week I was excited to see our great grandson play baseball in the Winona recreation park. It has been years since I joined the crowds that flow through the area, and I must say it was fun! It brought back memories of watching our children and grandchildren competing in sporting events. Parents set up tents to seek refuge from the sun and large supplies of bottled water and snacks were a common sight and even quick sandwiches. The time between games is spent resting, while filling up on water and last-minute help from coaches. The players and parents displayed good sportsmanship, while shouts of RUN! YOU CAN GET THIS and GREAT JOB were everywhere! As always, when game time is over, players line up and shake hands!
So, I will say “Good job, moms and dads, players, coaches and all those watching the events, for it was an exciting time at the Winona Recreation Park."
I understand Winona has tournaments throughout the early summer and large numbers of visitors from other areas drive to our park and downtown. With this in mind, let's all do our best to ensure that visitors who drive about our area will remember their visit with kind remarks. As a long-time Winona resident, I must say that I felt such pride that our town hosted this tournament.
LOVE is the most important thing in the world, baseball is pretty good too!
