HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!
Well, here we go again. It seems like it was not too much time ago that I just celebrated this milestone. Now it’s here once again. It appears that I have aged so fast! Where does the days and years go? I read once, “Time is but a fleeting phenomenon that happens so fast we don’t have time to process the passing.”
I can remember and still am guilty of this, seeing one of my classmates and thinking I look so much younger. HA. No, I don’t I have just as many remembering lines in my face. I can also remember and still say someone is an older lady. Really?
One of my grandsons has asked me several times over the course of time how old I really am. I always ask, “Why, how old do I look?” He answers with, “I’d rather not say.” I was Music Minister in my home church for years and one of the things that drove the preacher crazy was the fact I would never tell him how old I was. I always said, “Age is just a number and mine is unlisted.” After all there are two things you never ask a Lady, (1) how old are you? (2) how much do you weigh? Those two questions could make you an antagonist.
My husband is a whole six months older than me and each year when he celebrates another year, he tells everyone that he is nearly the next aged year, aways adding to his oldness. Not me. I hold onto that smaller number for a full twelve months.
Inside my mind I sometimes am still a young woman wanting, trying to do the things I have always done but it’s not very long until my body, body over mind, tells me differently. I am now the little old lady who needs help climbing stairs and stepping off the sidewalk. It sure is nice that I have ten big strong grandsons to lend me a helping hand.
But actually, I can still practically do everything I aways have however, I may need to rest a little in-between the beginning and the end of the chore. And I do love a short afternoon nap and I love an early bedtime. Lots of people much younger than me also like those little bird naps, so?
I am celebrating a BIG one this year and I can only tell you that lots of my friends, the same age as me, have already gone Home so I gratefully and thankfully am blessed. Of course, for my party I will have my blonde hair teased up, (Closer to God I’m told.), and my anti-wrinkle cream and impeccable makeup smeared on just right.
I absolutely love honey and I buy mine from Savannah Bee Honey in South Carolina. Its smooth and never turns to sugar. This is one of my favorite recipes with honey.
HONEY CORNBREAD – 1 cup SR cornmeal, 1 cup of SR flour, ¼ cup of sugar, 2 eggs, 1 cup buttermilk, ¼ cup of butter, ¼ cup of honey. Mix all together and pour into a hot buttered iron skillet. Cook 400* for 25 minutes.
I had a bad sunburn after a trip to the beach a few weeks ago and my nose had blistered sores and I used a honey mask, just pure honey, and it healed quickly and no scarring.
