The past week has been a busy time of celebration around the facility. CCRCF staff, inmate families, and State MDOC officials attended a GED Graduation ceremony held for five of our resident inmates last Thursday. These men took the initiative to better their future by graduating from our GED Program. Mrs. Tasha Phillips, CCRCF Programs Coordinator, has worked alongside them to help them reach a milestone that many thought was unattainable.
Then, on Monday, our facility recognized seven resident inmates along with their resident teacher, who have completed the Intro to HVAC Level One class. This class is the first step in a four-part course that will eventually lead them to NCCER certification in HVAC and Refrigeration.
Warden Brandon Smith congratulated the men and encouraged them to keep reaching towards a brighter future.
Warden Smith said, “As these men prepare to reenter society, they are utilizing a very valuable opportunity to be able to walk into a lucrative career upon their release. We strive at Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility to better the men in our custody. GED, Literacy, Life Skills, Horticulture, HVAC/Refrigeration, CDL, Forklift Certification, Basic Carpentry and others are offered to inmates. We are hoping to expand our classes soon so that more can be available to them. The key to reentry is for them to return to society with skills needed to obtain gainful employment. We are working to do our part to help them gain those skills.”
