The Winona Christian basketball teams only got in one game last week as they dropped a pair of games to Hillcrest Christian at the Canton Christmas Tournament.
The Winona girls fell 47-34 while the boys fell 81-25 to Hillcrest.
Winona Christian has a full slate of games this week with three contests. WCS was set to travel to Indianola on Tuesday and then to Columbus Christian on Thursday. They will end the week by hosting Oak Hill in a district contest.
Hillcrest Christian boys 81, Winona Christian 25
The Stars fell to the Cougars last week in the Canton Christmas Tournament.
Hillcrest started fast as they led 32-5 at the end of the first period. The Cougars outscored the Stars 11-5 in the second and led 43-10 at the half. The Cougars continued to extend their lead in the second half as they outscored the Stars 21-8 in the third and 17-7 in the fourth.
John White led Winona Christian with 13 points and five rebounds while Jake Ware had 10 points and five rebounds.
Hillcrest Christian girls 47, Winona Christian 34
The Lady Cougars pulled ahead early and took a 13-point win over the Lady Stars on Tuesday at the Canton Tournament.
Hillcrest dominated the first half as the Lady Cougars led 13-7 at the end of the first period. Hillcrest extended the lead in the second, outscoring Winona 15-6 to lead 28-13 at the half. Winona fought back in the second half as they outscored Hillcrest 9-8 in the third and 12-11 in the fourth for the final margin.
Bella Roberts had a huge game as she had 20 points and eight rebounds. Swayze Marquerdt also had six points and four rebounds.
