Bro. Wilton Neal was recently honored with a reception at North Carrollton Baptist Church recognizing 45 years of service as music director. He retired from being the music director the first of January. He was presented a plaque in honor of his service to the church by Rev. Keith Ramage, pastor of the church. The reception was held in the Family Life Center following the evening Fifth Sunday Night Singing. The theme for the evening service was “an Evening with Wesley Davis.”
In government news, Beat 5 Supervisor Rickie Corley reported that the Carroll County Board of Supervisors will have their last regular meeting for this month on Monday, January 29 at 9 am at the Carroll County Courthouse in Carrollton. Supervisor Corley is the board president and Beat 4 Supervisor Claude Fluker is the vice president.
In fire department news, there will be a meeting at the Carrollton/North Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department Tonight at 6 p.m. This meeting will be for using equipment. It was reported that last week at the meeting held at the fire station for orientation there was ten new volunteers signed up.
In other news, the Friends of the Carrollton/North Carrollton Library will have their annual A Taste of Soup and Art Exhibit, which will be held Saturday, February 3, at the Carrollton Community House from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. This annual fund-raiser helps provide books and other supplies needed for the library. Tickets are available at the library located at 1102 Lexington Street, Carrollton. Tickets are $10 each, and only 150 will be sold.
