BREAKING: Mississippi public schools closed until April 17
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves signed an executive order to close Mississippi's public schools until April 19 "to further evaluate the affects of" the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
In a Facebook Live video, Reeves said he ordered the closure of the state's public schools for the next four weeks, when he and state health officials will determine whether to extend the closures further.
"This is not a decision I make likely," Reeves said. "In my 17 years of serving the people of Mississippi, this is the most difficult decision I have made."
