Two Greenwood men are facing felony charges following a traffic stop.
According to Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker, Keith McSwine, 31, and Monquardron Fundrakus Gray, 31, both of Greenwood are facing multiple felony charges following a Saturday morning traffic stop.
Walker said McSwine was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and felony possession of marijuana.
Gray is charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute, felony fleeing, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, and aggravated assault on an officer.
Walker said the two men were stopped by a Carroll County deputy on Highway 82 at the Highway 35 intersection at 2:25 a.m. Saturday morning. During the stop, Walker said Gray allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle. A deputy was dragged by the vehicle on the highway as he was attempting to arrest Gray.
“We thank God the deputy was not seriously injured,” Walker said.
Deputies pursued Gray west on Highway 82 into Leflore County. He was eventually stopped on Browning Road, Walker said.
“Leflore Sheriff’s Deputies and Greenwood Police Officers deployed spike strips,” Walker said. “Gray’s vehicle was disabled and he was apprehended after a short foot chase.”
Walker said Gray only ran about 20 yards before he was taken into police custody.
Hand guns, cocaine, codeine cough syrup, marijuana, and large amount of cash was seized by deputies in the stop.
Walker said the case is still under investigation.
