In Carroll County, the Carroll Academy Student Council Association, sponsored as the Douglas Carroll Junior American Citizens by Third Arrow Chapter, Mississippi Society Daughters of the American Revolution, hosted the County's Memorial Day Ceremony on May 24 on the grounds of the Carroll County Courthouse. Following the welcome and recognition of veterans given by Chip Gray, the program included a color guard consisting of James Neill, Morgan Mims and Cooper Beck, the Pledge of Allegiance led by Ashton Martin, a Memorial Day invocation given by Anna Grace Brooks, the National Anthem, proclamations presented by Sara Austin Welch to the mayors of both Carrollton and North Carrollton and to the chancery clerk for the county, a special Memorial Day speech, given by Mary Jordan Milton on "The Evolution of the Roles of Women in the Armed Forces," a Commemorative Wreath honoring all veterans for their service placed by Layla Hall and Zoey Box, and the rendering of Taps by the Carroll County Tax Assessor Mr. Wilton Neal. Above: All veterans and citizens in attendance were given a small American flag, a flag lapel pin and a special Memorial Day poppy.
