WINONA – After four decades of prosecuting cases for Montgomery County, Lane Greenlee will retire at the end of 2019.
Last week, Greenlee announced his decision not to seek an 11th term as county prosecuting attorney.
“At the end of this term on January 1, 2020 – my tenth – I will have served as the County Prosecuting Attorney for Montgomery County for 40 years,” Greenlee said in a written statement. “I think that is long enough. So I will not seek election again for that position.”
He went on to say, “I have never had an opponent for my position, and I thank the members of the Montgomery County Bar for that. I also thank those who have helped me serve.”
Greenlee said he is only retiring from his elected position as county prosecutor, not from his private law practice.
“I will have more time to devote to it after my term expires,” Greenlee said.
