The Carroll Academy girls fastpitch softball team dropped a three-game series to District 2-2A foe Central Holmes Christian School last week.
Central Holmes took the first game 6-5 Monday despite being outhit 7-4 by Carroll. Central Holmes plated three runs in the first inning, two in the third and one in the fifth. Carroll scored one run each in the third, fifth and seventh innings and two in the fourth.
Kaylyn Wiltshire took the loss in the circle as she went six innings, allowing all six runs (two earned) on four hits, walking three. At the plate, she had a single.
Andie Milton had an RBI double for the Lady Rebels, and Natalee Mitchell had a single, RBI and scored a run.
Makenzie Reeves had a single and RBI, and Audrey Woods and Layla Neese had a single and scored a run apiece.
The Lady Trojans swept Carroll 4-1 and 11-2 in the doubleheader played on Tuesday.
In the first game, the Lady Trojans took advantage of five Carroll errors despite being outhit 9-5. Central Holmes plated two runs in the first and one run each in the fifth and seventh innings. Carroll scored its only run in the sixth.
Neese (1-6) took the loss in the circle as she allowed all four runs (one earned), walking two and fanning three.
Reeves had a single and triple and scored one run, and McCrory had two singles and an RBI. Emma Matthews and Mitchell also had two singles each, and Milton had a single.
In the second game, Central Holmes plated one run each in the first and fourth innings, four runs in the third, two in the sixth and three in the seventh. The Lady Rebels scored one run apiece in the fourth and seventh innings.
Wiltshire (2-10) took the loss as she allowed all 11 runs in seven innings of work, yielding 12 hits, walking six and fanning one. At the plate, she had an RBI double.
Mitchell had a single and triple, scoring one run. Reeves had a double, and McCrory and Matthews had a single each. Matthews also scored a run.
Carroll (3-16 overall, 0-9 in district) played at Washington School Monday and hosted the Lady Generals Tuesday. The Lady Rebels begin play in the North 2A Tournament Saturday at Shiloh Park in Brandon. The tournament concludes Monday at Canton Academy.
