The Carroll Academy baseball team picked up a pair of good wins this past week.
The Rebels beat Washington 6-3 on Monday and then followed that up with a 12-0 win over Greenville High School.
Carroll was scheduled to play Humphreys Academy Monday this week and finish at Benton Academy on Friday. The Rebels will begin district play next week as they travel to Greenville St. Joseph on Tuesday and then host the Irish in a doubleheader on Friday.
Carroll 6, Washington 3
The Rebels pulled away late to take a three-run win over the Generals on Monday.
Carroll scored two in the first and one in the fourth and fifth and led 4-0. Washington answered with two in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-2. But Carroll answered back with two in the sixth while Washington scored one in the bottom of the sixth for the final margin.
Each team had five hits in the contest. Lofton Holly was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Maddox Carpenter was 2-for-4. Brennan Blaylock singled and scored two runs.
Ryan Logan pitched six complete innings and gave up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out nine.
Carroll 12, Greenville 0
The Rebels used a big third inning to take a run-rule win over the Hornets on Monday in the second game of a doubleheader.
Carroll scored one in the second and 11 in the third.
Carroll had eight hits and drew four walks in the game. Brennan Blaylock was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while Ethan Mims double and drove in three runs. Lofton Holly, Maddox Carpenter and Jake Truitt each doubled and scored a run while Ryan Logan scored three runs.
Mims pitched two innings and gave e up one hit and one walk while striking out six. Reid Blaylock pitched one inning and gave up struck out one.
