It was a rough week for the Carroll Academy baseball team.
The Rebels suffered three straight shutout losses last week, falling 14-0, 6-0 and 13-0 to Canton Academy.
Carroll falls to 5-11 on the season and will return to action this week with a three-game series against Winston. Game 1 of the series was set for Tuesday in Louisville while game 2 will be at Carroll on Thursday. The series will return to Winston on Friday.
Canton 14, Carroll 0
The Rebels only had one hit as the Panthers took a run-rule win on Tuesday.
Canton scored two in the first, four in the second, six in the third and two in the fourth.
Canton outhit Carroll 10-1. Jake Truitt had Carroll’s only hit.
Ethan Mims started on the mound for Carroll, giving up 12 earned runs on eight hits and eight walks while striking out two in 2 1/3 innings. Landon Grantham pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on two hits and a walk.
Canton 6, Carroll 0
The Rebels struggled to score and suffered a second straight shutout to the Panthers on Friday.
Canton scored four in the first and two in the seventh.
Carroll actually outhit Canton 6-5 in the contest. Reid Blaylock was 2-for-4 while Hayes White and Reed Thomas each doubled. Ethan Mims and Jake Truitt each singled.
White started on the mound and pitched six innings, giving up four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six. Thomas pitched the last inning and gave up two runs on one hit.
Canton 13, Carroll 0
The Rebels suffered a third straight shutout as the Panthers won in four innings in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday.
Canton scored one in the first, nine in the second and three in the fourth.
Canton outhit Carroll 5-3 but the Rebels issued five walks and hit five batters. Tyler Brooks, Reid Blaylock and Jake Truitt each had singles.
Parker Daves started on the mound and pitched 1 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs on two hits. Blaylock pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on two hits and three walks while Austin Mims pitched one inning and gave up three runs on one hit and two walks.
