The Carroll Academy girls picked up a big win last week against their biggest rival.
The Lady Rebels needed overtime to come back and beat Winona Christian 32-30. They lost their other game last week, falling 50-22 to Oak Hill.
The Carroll boys lost both games last week, falling 62-34 to Winona Christian and 69-41 to Oak Hill.
On the girls side, Carroll is the No. 3 seed and automatically advances to the North 3A tournament. The Carroll girls will play No. 2 seed Oak Hill on Thursday in a 5:30 p.m. contest. The girls championship game will be Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Oak Hill.
On the boys side, Carroll is the No. 5 seed and will take on Winston on Tuesday in a 5:30 p.m. contest. The winner of that game will play top-seeded Canton.
Carroll Girls 32, Winona Christian 30
The Lady Rebels rallied from an early deficit to take a three-point win over the Lady Stars on Monday.
Winona Christian jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the first period and outscored Carroll 10-9 in the second for a 21-14 halftime lead. Carroll tightened up the game in the third period and outscored Winona 8-3 to cut the lead to 24-22 going to the fourth. Carroll took the fourth period 7-5 to send the game into overtime tied at 29-29. Carroll then outscored Winona 3-1 in the extra period to take the win.
Anna Laken Taylor led Carroll with 13 points while Carlie Hoover had nine points. Bella Carter also chipped in eight points.
Winona Christian Boys 62, Carroll 34
The Stars dominated the first half and cruised to a 28-point win over the Rebels last week.
Winona had a big first half as they outscored Carroll 26-13 in the first period and 16-0 in the second to lead 42-13 at the half. Winona took the third period 12-7 and led 54-20 going to the fourth. Carroll outscored Winona 14-8 in the fourth for the final margin.
Landon Grantham and William Crowe each had eight points for the Rebels while Reed Thomas had seven points.
Oak Hill Boys 69, Carroll 41
The Raiders pulled away in the second half and took a 28-point win over the Rebels.
Oak Hill led 11-10 at the end of the first while Carroll took the second period 9-8 to tie the game at 19-19 at the half. But Oak Hill outscored Carroll 27-9 in the third and 23-13 in the fourth to pull away and take the win.
Landon Grantham led Carroll with 24 points while Cohen Blaylock had six points.
Oak Hill Girls 50, Carroll 22
The Lady Raiders outscored the Lady Rebels in every period and took a 28-point win.
Oak Hill outscored Carroll 14-7 in the first and 8-1 in the second to lead 22-8 at the half. Oak Hill continued to extend its lead and outscored Carroll 17-4 in the third and 11-10 in the fourth.
Bella Carter led Carroll with eight points while Anna Laken Taylor, Madelyn Singleton and Olivia Whitworth each had three points apiece.
