Some things are harder than others to write about. . .
Not long after I found out I have nodules in my lungs that turned out to be DIPNECH (rare, usually slow growing, treatable, small nodules) with one being cancerous, we found out our little black, white, and tan chihuahua had breast cancer.
She had a lump that got larger and our vet confirmed it needed to be removed. She did great with her surgery, but he cautioned that it might return or spread.
It did.
Also, she began having trouble breathing. Back to the vet to discover she had fluid on her lungs and congestive heart failure.
She was a little dog and thirteen years old.
ChiChi was a great dog. She never displayed bad habits, didn’t chew up things, didn’t run away, didn’t bark too much, however, she was hard to potty train. She was a cuddler and liked to be near you. She liked to get on your right side and sit with you hoping for a head or ear rub.
She would look up and focus those big, dark eyes on me, and I felt that she loved me. Car rides were a treat and she never got sick; loving to look out the window. She really enjoyed being outside and going with us everywhere on our land. She liked going to feed the chickens, ducks, and geese. She sat near me when I went fishing in our pond.
Once I was floating on a raft in the big pond and looked up and here she came! Swimming out to get on the raft with me. She sat on my back and we just floated along relaxing. I think she thought she should be with me in case of danger, or if I fell in. She didn’t like us to get in water!
When Andrew and Gary were putting in the water line they dug the long trench for the pipes. Chi was “helping” and fell in! We saw her little black head pop up and down, then she ran a ways, and there was the head pop up again. We got her out, and she continued to stay with us giving us her doggie encouragement and digging in the soft dirt.
She lived through a lot of family history with us in her lifetime. She was the boss of all the other dogs, even the 120 pound Pyraneese. She was fiercely protective and startled strangers with her bark and teeth snarling behavior. We were hers. We loved her. We miss her.
The Bible says in Genesis 1:24-25, “And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, …..And God saw that it was good.”
Thank you, Lord, for creating dogs, and our ChiChi. She was a blessing.
It was good.
