“Because He Lives”
God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus. He came to love, heal and forgive. He lived and died to buy my pardon. An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.
Again, Jesus says, “I am the Resurrection and the life; he (anyone) who believes in Me shall live even if he dies.” Hallelujah!
The Lord changeth not; He is the same today, yesterday and forever. And, although the first man, Adam, transgressed the command of God in favor of Satan, that did not affect the love of God. For God commandeth His love towards us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8). This was proof of the unchanging love of Christ.
He spoke from the cross. He was being crucified because of His mission to save the world. He expressed the completeness of His mission in seven words. The two last words summarized the conclusion of His whole mission: “It is finished.” (John 19:30)
That is, what His Father sent Him to do, to redeem man from the call was finished on the cross. Then when He gathered mankind unto Himself, He said to His Father: “Into thy hands I commend my spirit.” His spirit included all humanity. His words from the cross said it all. (Luke 23:46). Another proof of His unchanging love is He rose from the dead. There are two reasons why He rose from the dead. The first was to prove that there is life after death. That problem had haunted man from the beginning to that time.
The second reason was this—the grave could not hold Him. He was sent by God to die and rise again to assure man that there is life beyond death and the grave.
Finally, He lives. When the church was uncertain about His life after death, Jesus appeared unto John on the Isle of Patmos. There He revealed himself as Lord and told John to write to the seven churches of Asia and tell them: “I am He that liveth, and was dead, and, behold I am alive for evermore.” (Rev. 1:18) As I conclude this devotion, my closing prayer is that God will give us a renewed vision and an identical joy of that First Lord’s Day. We need to take a trip all the way back to Calvary. Back to the tomb where He lay. And back to the upper room where His disciples gathered together to await the fulfillment of the promise of the Holy Ghost. Then we too may come to know the Life—Jesus Christ. Now millions around the world are signing:
“Because He Lives”
Because I know He holds the future and life is worth the living just because He lives..
