After dedicating 44 years of service to the Winona Fire Department, Assistant Chief Ronnie Huffman has retired, marking the end of an era in his family's legacy of firefighting. Following in his father's footsteps, Ronnie became a second-generation firefighter at the age of 19, and today, his son Brad continues the family tradition as a third-generation member of the department.
Despite his retirement, Ronnie will continue his role as training officer for the department and county, ensuring the next generation of firefighters maintains the highest standards of service.
The Huffman family has deep roots in our community, where Ronnie raised his four children and enjoys being a grandfather to eleven grandchildren.
While closing this chapter brings mixed emotions, Ronnie looks forward to focusing on his construction company, riding his Gold Wing motorcycle, and sharing his love of dirt bike racing with his grandson. The Winona Fire Department and community express their heartfelt gratitude for his years of outstanding service and wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement.
