Tuesday evening, May 13, 2025, the Winona American Legion outpost held an appreciation dinner for first responders at the American Legion Post 52 building. Legion members provided a spread of pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and an assortment of beverages. The Women’s Auxiliary provided first responders with a plethora of sweet cakes for dessert.
After dinner was served, Legion Commander Kenny Self and Adjunct Al Baker presented the commanders of the first responders with certificates of appreciation for their hard work and dedication to keeping the Winona community safe. Attendees at the dinner included both Montgomery County constables, a number of officers from the Winona Police Department, dispatchers, MedStat personnel, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies. At the end of the night, Legion Commander Kenny Self invited any first responders on duty on Tuesday evenings to stop by the American Legion for a complimentary dinner between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The dinner was a huge success with many first responders and other attendees taking home to-go plates at the end of the night.
