    A Winona woman perished in a house fire in the early morning hours Wednesday morning.
    According to Montgomery County Coroner Allan Pratt, Latha Jean Britt, 87, died as a result of the fire that destroyed her home located at 500 Shady Lane.

    The Carroll County School District is the homestretch of the 2020-2021 school year. Superintendent Jim Ray told the district’s school board trustees that they have 32 days left in this school year.
    “Spring sports are underway and we getting ready to take state test,” Ray said.

    The Winona Lady Tigers only got in one game last week and took a run-rule loss.
    Eupora scored 13 runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 14-1 win over Winona.
    The Lady Tigers are now 5-8 on the season.

    The Winona Tigers wrapped up district play this past week with another football-like win over Humphreys County.
    The Tigers beat Humphreys 17-13 on Tuesday and then beat Vardaman 15-5 on Thursday.
