On Thursday, March 14, at 10:22 p.m., Carroll County Deputies responded to a call regarding a parking lot shooting at a club formerly known as Katie’s Place in Coila in Carroll County, according to a Press Release from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived on scene and administered CPR to 20-year-old, Jaheim Montreal Walker, until MedStat Emergency Medical Services arrived, however Walker died on scene.
Carroll County Constable, Travis Gatewood, was inside the establishment at the time the shooting occurred and was alerted by witnesses to it taking place and identified the shooter. Gatewood went to the suspect’s home address where he arrested 40-year-old, Reginal Cortez Lindsey, of Coila in Carroll County, and transported him to Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility.
An investigation was launched into the incident. It was not until after Carroll County Deputies finished collecting evidence, taking witness statements, and investigating the scene that they were able to interview Lindsey. Lindsey was booked on the charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was denied bond at his initial appearance and remains in jail at this time.
