Man accused of shooting girlfriend

A Montgomery County man faces felony charges in two counties, following a shooting near Duck Hill on Sunday morning.
Willie Lee Richardson, 53 of the Sweet Home Community east of Duck Hill, is accused of shooting his girlfriend at their residence, Montgomery County Sheriff Jeff Tompkins said.

Anticipation mounts for Winona City-wide yard sale

Plans are underway for the Winona City-wide Yard Sale in October.
The yard sale will begin at 8 a.m. and last as long as participants will have items for sale on Oct. 15.
“If you’re going to be on others’ property, get permission,” said Sue Stidham, director of Montgomery County Economic Development Partnership.

WSS receives national honor

Diligent dedication to student success has, yet again, ranked Winona Secondary School among high achieving schools across the United States.
The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) announced on Sept. 23 that WSS is one of 46 schools in Mississippi to receive the 2022 College Success Award from GreatSchools.org.
