Star’s season ends in second round

Winona Christian saw its football season come to an end on Friday night at top-seeded Riverfield.

The Stars trailed 13-7 at the half before the Raiders scored 23 second-half points to take a 36-7 win in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.

Winona Christian ends the season with a 9-3 record.

Lady Stars drop two games last week

It was a rough week on the hardwoods for the Winona Christian Lady Stars.

WCS lost both contests last week, falling 35-17 to Washington and 54-21 to Manchester.

Jaguars drop season opener to Senatobia

J.Z. George High School’s girls and boys basketball teams opened their season on Nov. 5 at home against Senatobia High School.

The boys lost 70-58 as Martavis Banks scored 18 and BJ Green 10 for the Jags. Nehemiah Williams had eight points.

Tigers split home games with Ethel

The Winona High School boys basketball team cruised to a 61-16 win over Ethel High School last week to pick up its first win of the young season.

The Tigers (1-1) got a team-high 13 points from Fred Alexander, and 12 points from Ariez Peeples. Kentrell Crawford and Jemarcus Robinson had 10 points each.
