Winona softball claims pair of wins

The Winona High School girls fast-pitch softball team improved to 3-1 on the season with a pair of wins last week.

The Lady Tigers defeated Water Valley High School 15-2 last Friday as Madison Henderson got the win in the circle. She went four innings, allowing just two hits, walking two and striking out four.

Tigers rebound with tournament wins

Winona High School’s baseball team rebounded from a 14-2 loss to Kirk Academy last Friday night to earn two wins Saturday at the Winona Dixie Roofing Tournament.

The Tigers (2-1) beat J.Z. George 17-2 in their first game Saturday and knocked off Independence 13-9 in their second contest.

Rebels pick up two more baseball wins

The Carroll Academy baseball team picked up two more wins this past week.

Carroll opened the week with a 9-6 win over Deer Creek on Tuesday and then thumped Delta 13-1 on Friday.

Carroll is scheduled to play at Washington on Thursday in a doubleheader.

Stars split week’s games

The Winona Christian baseball team split a pair of games this past week.

The Stars hammered French Camp 15-4 on Tuesday and then lost 12-0 to Pillow on Friday.

Winona Christian is scheduled to play at Central Holmes on Tuesday and host Kirk on Thursday. They will finish the week at Washington on Friday.
