The Winona High School tennis team dropped a pair of matches in prep tennis action last week.
The Tigers played at Senatobia High School Thursday, falling 6-1. The lone win came in No. 2 boys doubles as TJ Small and Jeffery Butts defeated Kingston Harris and Jaylon Bowen 6-1, 6-1.
Gunner Wilkes lost his boys singles match 6-3, 6-0 to Takylan Young, and Brayden Flowers and Ben Rosamond lost their No. 1 boys doubles match 6-0, 6-2 to Ian Williams and Tyler Webb.
Eden Leach and Marlee Wilkes lost 3-6, 6-2, 10-6 to Jacqueline Neal and Kate Reyes in No. 1 girls doubles, and Joceline Rodriguez and Lillian Jones lost 6-1, 6-1 to Carmen Garcia-Escamilla and Caylah Wilson to No. 2 girls doubles. A’jerrian Garrett and Sofia Guzman lost 6-2, 7-5 to Evan Riley and Ahdia Kimble in mixed doubles.
The Tigers played host to French Camp Academy on Feb. 24 and lost 4-3.
The three wins came in No. 1 boys doubles as Rosamond and Flowers won 6-2, 6-2; Wilkes and Leach won 6-7 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4) and 7-6 (10-6), and Garrett and Ariella Jones won 6-3, 6-3 in mixed doubles.
Wilkes lost in boys singles 4-6, 4-6, and Lillian Jones lost 0-6, 0-6 in girls singles. Small and Butts lost 2-6, 3-6 in No. 2 boys doubles. FCA got a forfeit win in No. 2 girls doubles.
Winona, which visited Cleveland Central Tuesday, entertains Nettleton Thursday.
