The Stars kicked off fall practices last week, practicing all five days.
Veteran Coach Junior Graham said the Stars had a good week and even surprised him.
“We had a really good week,” Graham said. “We battled rain a little bit but all in all, we were pleased. We had eight practices and got a lot installed. We had a couple of surprises as far as picking up schemes.”
Graham said he had 25 players out for fall practice, forcing players to play multiple positions.
“Offensively, I was pleased with the way the players picked up multiple positions,” Graham said. “We are going to have to play musical chairs at time to get players rest. We have players in multiple positions and they picked it up really well. And I was pleased with the way our secondary played.”
The Stars will not scrimmage anyone this week and will play Ethel in a jamboree on Friday, Aug. 16.
“We have got a couple of things we have to install as far as our bread and butter things that we do,” Graham said. “We have one more special team to install then we are going to start polishing up for Ethel. We hope to have a better grasp for our substitution pattern and hope they have a grasp of our bread and butter things that we do.”
The Stars will open the season on Aug. 23 against French Camp.
