The Winona Christian School Lady Stars picked up two convincing wins this past week.
The Lady Stars hammered French Camp 71-28 and beat Jackson Victors 44-29. In boys action, WCS beat French Camp 56-53 but lost 78-35 to Jackson Victors.
Winona Christian has another busy week in front of them as they travel to Carroll on Tuesday and Washington on Thursday before hosting Indianola on Friday.
The Lady Stars outscored the FCA Lady Panthers in every period as they cruised to a 43-point win.
Winona led just 13-10 after the first period but exploded in the second period, outscoring French Camp 23-6 to lead 36-16 at the half. After outscoring French Camp 12-5 in the third, WCS took the fourth period 23-7 to take the win.
Anna Cole Ware led Winona Christian with 16 points while Sara Burden White had 13 points. Ivey Devine had 11 points and Elise Diffey chipped in 10 points.
WCS built a big lead in the first period against Jackson Victors and cruised to a 15-point lead.
The Lady Stars outscored the Lady Victors 18-5 in the first and led 20-10 at the half. Winona Christian outscored Jackson 10-5 in the third to lead 30-15 going into the fourth.
Sara Burden White led Winona Christian with 12 points while Anna Cole Ware added 10 points. Ivey Devine had eight points while Ashlyn Bloom and Elise Diffey each chipped in six points apiece.
Stars
After falling behind in the first period, the Stars used a big second period and held on to take a three-point win over the Panthers on Tuesday.
French Camp led 13-8 at the end of the first period before Winona Christian responded with a huge second period, outscoring the Panthers 17-8 to take a 25-21 lead at the half. French Camp outscored WCS 20-19 in the third and 15-12 in the fourth but couldn’t overcome the margin.
Latham Hill led the Stars with 24 points while Shaw Ferguson added 12 points.
Winona Christian was 23-of-35 from the free-throw line to take the win.
The Stars held the Eagles scoreless in the first and second quarters in a blowout 53-14 win over Hebron Christian on Monday.
Winona Christian led 9-0 at the end of the first and outscored the Eagles 23-9 in the second to lead 32-9 at he half. After outscoring the Eagles 17-0 in the third, the Star led 49-9 at the end of the third.
Winona Christian had eight players to score as Latham Hill led the way with 15 points. Shaw Ferguson had 12 points while Zach Bailey added nine points.
The homeschoolers from Jackson found the bottom of the basket often in a 43-point win over the Stars on Thursday.
Jackson Victors outscored Winona 14-8 in the first and 28-12 in the second to take a 42-20 lead at the half. The Victors continued to extend its lead in the second half as they outscored Winona 16-8 in the third and 20-7 in the fourth.
Latham Hill led Winona with 16 points while Austin Huggins and Zach Bailey each had four points apiece.
