Not only was it a long week for the Winona Christian basketball teams, it was not as productive as they had hoped.
The Stars lost all three contests they played as they dropped two to Oak Hill by scores of 48-44 and 43-32. They also lost a 51-33 decision to Central Holmes last Monday.
The Lady Stars split with Oak Hill, dropping the first game 58-43 and winning the second 47-35. They also lost to Central Holmes last Monday by the score of 54-42.
Winona Christian has two games this week after the Deer Creek game on Monday was cancelled. Winona will travel to Central Holmes on Tuesday and then finish up the regular season on Friday at Indianola. The district tournament will be next week, hosted by Carroll Academy but final seeds will not be set until later in the week.
The Lady Raiders of Oak Hill jumped out to a big lead in the first contest between the two teams and took a 15-point win, 58-43.
Oak Hill took the early advantage as it led 17-7 at the end of the first and 29-13 at the half. Oak Hill used a 19-18 advantage in the third to maintain the lead.
Anna Cole Ware led Winona with 20 points while Elise Diffey added nine points.
In the rematch, the Winona Christian girls used a big second period to take a 12-point win over the Lady Raiders.
Winona led 12-8 at the end of the first and then outscored Oak Hill 17-4 in the second for a 29-12 lead at the half. Oak Hill cut into the lead in the third, outscoring Winona 14-4 but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Stars earned the season split Diffey had a good shooting night as she led the Lady Stars with 17 points while Ware had 15 points. Ivey Devine added six points.

Central Holmes broke open a close game in the fourth period to take a 51-33 win.
CHS led 11-6 after the first and 22-14 at the half. After Winona outscored Central Holmes 11-10 in the third, the Trojans pulled away in the fourth by outscoring the Stars 19-8 to take the win.
Reed Roberts and Latham Hill led Winona with eight points apiece while Choyce Diffey added six points.
In the first of two matchups with the Oak Hill Raiders from West Point, the Stars let a six-point halftime lead slip away as they dropped a 48-44 decision.
Oak Hill led 8-4 at the end of the first period before Winona outscored the Raiders 17-7 in the second to lead 21-15 at the half. Oak Hill cut the lead to 35-31 by the end of the third and took the lead in the fourth by outscoring the Stars 17-9 to take the win.
Austin Huggins led Winona Christian with 15 points, all on 3-pointers while Hill had 14 points. Shaw Ferguson added nine points.
In their second meeting, the Raiders grabbed a first-half lead and never looked back as they took an 11-point win.
The Raiders jumped out to a 9-3 lead at the end of the first and led 19-8 at the half. Each team scored 14 in the third and 10 in the fourth for the final margin.
Ferguson led the Stars in scoring with eight points while Hill had six points and Diffey added five points.
