WINONA – The Winona Christian Lady Stars were two-and-two following their opening tournament on Saturday.
Lady Stars Head Coach John Harris said the team had ups and downs on offense and defense from game to game throughout the day.
“We got hits, but we struggled getting runs in,” said Harris. “We couldn’t get situational hits.”
The Lady Stars won 17-0 against the Kirk Academy Lady Raiders in their first game of the day.
“We hit well against Kirk,” said Harris.
Adyson Mann scored three runs for the Lady Stars, and Olivia Dendy scored three, according to Harris.
The Lady Stars lost 3-1 against the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels in the following game.
“We left a lot of runners on base,” said Harris. “Defensively, we made a lot of mental mistakes.”
Jada Mims scored one run, and Abi Burns had an RBI with a double, according to Harris.
Winona then won 6-3 against the Carroll Academy Lady Rebels.
“Offensively, we put a few more hits together, but we still struggled at the plate,” said Harris.
Mims scored two runs in the Lady Stars’ third game of the day.
The Lady Stars lost 4-0 in their fourth game of the day against the Central Holmes Lady Trojans.
Winona will face Winston Academy in more softball action today.
