CARROLLTON – The Carroll Academy Lady Rebels are working to improve after a handful of losses.
The Lady Rebels lost 17-0 to the Humphreys Academy Lady Rebels at home on July 28.
“We got two hits,” said Lady Rebels Head Coach Rusty Miller. “Sandy Rhea Tackett got a hit, and Anna Grace Cleveland got a hit.”
Leading the Lady Rebels defensively, Tackett struck out one batter, gave up two hits from the mound and hit two batters, Miller said.
Carroll lost 12-0 to the Central Holmes Lady Trojans on Saturday during the Winona Christian opening tournament.
Miller said the Lady Rebels were able to get two hits on Central Holmes during their first game of the day.
“Anna Grace Cleveland got a hit, and Mary Jordan Milton got a hit,” he said.
Kaylee Ferguson led from the mound, striking out one batter and walking five, and the Lady Rebels made three errors.
The Lady Rebels lost 6-0 against the Winston Academy Lady Patriots during their second game of the day.
At the plate, Katie Lauren Clark, Tackett and Milton each had one hit, and on defense, Tackett struck out two batters and walked two, with the Lady Rebels making five errors behind her, Miller said.
Carroll lost 6-3 to the Winona Christian Lady Stars during their final game of the day.
“We played pretty good in that game, but we had some missed opportunities,” said Miller.
The Lady Rebels had 12 hits in this game, coming from Kaitlyn Chamblee, Tackett, Milton, Mery Reeves, Clark, Sara Austin Welch and Helen Claire Cobb, Miller said.
Carroll picked up a 14-1 loss on Monday against Indianola.
Tackett led on defense from the mound, giving up 15 hits and walking four batters, with the Lady Rebels making six errors, Miller said.
“The score doesn’t reflect it, but she pitched well enough to win had we supported her,” said Miller.
