The Winona Christian Lady Stars got some solid pitching last week but managed only one win out of three games.
After a 10-0 loss to Pillow last Monday, the Lady Stars hammered Oak Hill 11-1 on Tuesday. They finished the week with an 11-3 loss to Winston, despite giving up only one earned run.
Winona was set to travel to Oak Hill on Monday and then to Hebron Christian on Thursday. The Lady Stars will participate in the Tri-County Tournament on Saturday.
Winona Christian 11, Oak Hill 1
The Lady Stars scored six runs in the fifth inning to take a run-run-run win over the Lady Raiders on Tuesday.
The Lady Stars had 10 hits in the contest that lasted just five innings.
Ashleigh Parkinson led the way for Winona, going 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Lennie Wood was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Hope Pierce singled, scored and walked twice. Kaylah Brooke Varnes doubled and scored a run and also had an RBI while Caylon Marlow had two hits and scored a run. Haley Beckwith and Sara Rawles also singled and drove in a run apiece Rawles got the win on the mound, scattering five hits and two walks while striking out three.
Winston Academy 11, WCS 3
The Lady Patriots scored five runs in the second inning to pull out to an early lead and take a win over the Lady Stars on Thursday.
Winston outhit Winona 9-6 in the contest but eight errors by the Lady Stars.
Haley Beckwith was 2-for-3 to lead the Lady Stars at the plate while Ashleigh Parkinson and McKinley Ingram singled and scored. Lennie Wood singled and drove in a run while Kaylah Brooke Varnes singled. Harlee Whitten also had an RBI.
Rawles pitched three innings and gave up six hits and only one earned run while Allie Rawles pitched the other three innings and gave up three hits and four unearned runs. Hope Pierce pitched the last inning and gave up one unearned run.
Pillow 10, WCS 0
The Lady Stars managed only six hits in a five-inning shutout loss to the Lady Mustangs.
McKinley Ingram and Haley Beckwith were each 2-for-3 to lead the Lady Stars while Ashleigh Parkinson and Sara Rawles each had singles.
Rawles pitched four innings for WCS as she gave up five unearned runs on five hits and struck out five. Hope Pierce pitched the other 1.1 innings.
