Both Winona Christian teams split a pair of games last week, sweeping North Sunflower but losing to Starkville Academy.
The Winona Christian girls won 53-16 to North Sunflower and lost 53-35 to Starkville Academy.
The Stars beat North Sunflower 81-72 but lost 59-13 to Starkville Academy, playing both games without four starters who were in the all-star football game.
Winona Christian had three games scheduled this week as they were scheduled to travel to Carroll to open district play on Tuesday. On Thursday, Winona will travel to Magnolia Heights and then host Hebron on Friday.
WCS boys 81, North Sunflower 72
The Stars used a steady supply of offense to take a nine-point win over North Sunflower.
Winona led 21-9 at the end of the first and outscored North Sunflower 22-20 in the second to lead 43-29 at the half. Winona extended the lead in the third, outscoring North Sunflower 22-17 to lead 65-46 going into the fourth. North Sunflower took the fourth 26-16 for the final margin.
Dalton Wiggins led Winona Christian with 34 points while John White had 18 points. Jake Ware and Collin Parkinson each had nine points each while Jacob Mann added six points.
WCS girls 53, North Sunflower 16
The Lady Stars jumped ahead early and cruised to a 37-point win over Deer Creek.
Winona dominated early, outscoring North Sunflower 27-0 at the end the first and 39-10 at the half. Winona continued to extend their lead in the second half, outscoring North Sunflower 7-2 in the third and 7-4 in the fourth.
Bella Roberts led Winona with 15 points while Haley Beckwith had seven points. Ashleigh Parkinson, Olivia Brooks and Autum Lishman each had six points apiece.
Starkville boys 59, WCS 13
The Volunteers overcame a slow start to take a 46-point win over the short-handed Stars last week.
Winona led 7-5 at the end of the first before Starkville outscored the Stars 21-2 in the second to lead 26-9 at the half. Starkville outscored Winona 21-4 in the third to lead 47-13 at the end of the third.
Dalton Wiggins and Jacob Mann each had six points each.
Starkville girls 53, WCS 35
The Lady Volunteers used a big third period to take an 18-point win over the Lady Stars.
Winona led 4-2 at the end of the first and 16-14 at the half. But Starkville outscored Winona 21-4 in the third to take a 35-20 lead into the fourth. Starkville took the fourth 18-15 for the final margin.
Sara Beth Burden led Winona with 11 points while Autum Lishman had six points.
