Carroll Academy boys, girls suffer losses

The Carroll Academy basketball teams had a busy week with three games apiece last week.

The Lady Rebels lost all three games, falling 40-38 to Canton, 47-31 to Columbus Christian and 46-34 to Tri-County.

The Rebels also lost all three games, falling 60-21 to Canton, 70-44 to Columbus Christian and 76-48 to Tri-County.

WCS splits pair of games

WCS swept Indianola as the Lady Stars won 39-28 and the Stars beat the Colonels 46-37.

Winona Christian was then swept by Oak Hill as the Lady Stars lost 59-29 and the Stars fell 73-56.

Winona Christian was scheduled to return to action this week as they host Canton on Monday and Winston on Friday in district contest.

Lady Tigers prevail, Jags lose games

The Winona High School girls basketball team picked up a 64-31 win at West Lowndes last Friday night.

The Lady Tigers (4-4) only led 17-13 after one but made it 33-19 by halftime. They led 49-26 after the third frame.

Golden Eagles survive Northwestern State to win 3rd straight

As the saying goes, an ugly win is better than no win, but regardless, Southern Miss still has some demons that need to be worked out, with the Golden Eagles holding on to an 83-74 win against Northwestern State.

Yes, the Golden Eagles fell to a sharp Northwestern State team last year that won 22 games.
