A Lexington man was released after the judge ruled there was not sufficient evidence to hold him on an armed robbery charge.
At the end of April, when Lavaris Peterson went before Judge Alan D. Lancaster, the victim told Lancaster he wasn’t sure if Peterson was the person who committed the crime because his grandson told him it wasn’t Peterson. Peterson told Lancaster that he filed charges on the victim’s grandson because he alleges the man broke into his house in Black Hawk.
Lancaster told Peterson and the victim when they return in three weeks, he wanted someone to have an answer as to what happened. The party came back on May 9, and there were still lingering questions as to what actually happened.
Due to questions regarding the case, Lancaster told Peterson his case was being remanded to the file.
“What this means is that if the police find more evidence, it can come back up,” Lancaster said.
Also, the case of Eddie O. Green was continued until this Thursday. Green is accused of two counts of aggravated assault. He allegedly shot two men on Academy Street.
Amanda O’Callaghan was bound over to the action of the grand jury for possession of paraphernalia. Evidence in the case included a handwritten confession from her co-defendant Randy Moore which stated that he told Officer Jacob Edwards that he and O’Callaghan were in possession of two pipes because he “didn’t want to go to jail by himself.”
