Five years ago, David Garron was installed as pastor of New Ephesians Apostolic Church, formerly known as Lighthouse. His wife, Vanessa Garron said it was arranged that way. She said after he husband learned his installation and birthday were 24 hours apart, he liked the idea.
Now, five years later, the church is preparing to honor Garron with a fifth year pastoral anniversary and this year, it’s actually on his birthday, Oct. 6.
“We were talking about it a few months ago and I told him ‘You know your birthday is the same day as your installation?’ He said, ‘Are you serious?’ I told him ‘We have to do something.’”
And planning began for a program combining the two, but it’s not just honoring Garron and celebrating his birthday, it’s also the same day their church is hosting their fellowship members.
“We’re apart of Covenant Faith Fellowship and we were going to different churches and I told them ‘We’ve been to y’all [church] but when are y’all going to come back to us?’ So now, we’re celebrating them all together. It’s going to be a big program.”
The program will start at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6. The speaker will be Steven Young of Ardmore Terrance Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn. Garron said featured guests will be the Columbiana Praise Team and Perpetual Praise Levites.
“It’s truly an honor to be by his side and to serve the people and to serve him as my pastor. He loves the Lord so much. His favorite song is “Serving the Lord will pay off afterwhile,” and for him it has paid off. We wish him a happy birthday and a happy anniversary.”
