The J.Z. George baseball, softball and archery teams had no games or shoots last week during spring break, and all three were slated to get back into action this week.
With the heavy rains that came into the area Tuesday, the Jaguars' Region 2-2A baseball opener with Calhoun City was postponed until Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Recreation Park.
The Jaguars are off to an 0-4 start under first-year coach Michael Hargett. They are slated to go to Calhoun City Friday.
For the girls fast-pitch softball team, it had Tuesday's Region 2-2A opener with East Webster pushed back to a doubleheader on April 13 at East Webster.
The Lady Jags, who are 0-5 on the season, will play a pair of games at region foe Calhoun City Friday. J.Z. George goes to Eupora Monday and visits Bruce on April 1.
Jeff Fulgham's archery team is slated to take on Neshoba Central Thursday at 4 p.m. at the school's gymnasium. North half play starts Monday at J.Z. George. The Jaguars will host Pillow Academy and Nanih Waiya Monday, and the elementary team will shoot against Grenada's elementary team Tuesday. On Wednesday, Winona High School and New Summit School will shoot at J.Z. George.
"None of the teams we'll have here are actually competing against each other," said Fulgham. "Everyone is in different classes and scores from the shoots will be compiled in Jackson. Our high school team is actually competing against Potts Camp, and our elementary team is going up against Mantachie and Highland Bluff."
