Kizzy Townsend-Ward of Duck Hill is celebrating 20 years of being cancer-free after a 2001 diagnosis of acute myelogenous leukemia.
Ward was diagnosed when she was 23, and she battled with the disease and its symptoms for about four months.
“I had achy bones, bleeding gums, and [was] easily to bruise,” she said.

Three waive preliminary hearings

Three Winona men have been bound over to the action of the Montgomery County Grand Jury, and a woman has been sentenced to serve five days in jail, contingent upon her paying restitution.
Delmark Robinson, Cortez Washington, Jeremy Ford, and Cassandra Blackmon all went before Judge Alan D. Lancaster on separate incidents.

Counties to share veteran officer

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors are in the rough draft stages of an interlocal agreement with the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. The counties are agreeing to have a Veteran Service Officer serve both counties, jointly.
