Two Carroll County students received scholarships on behalf of the Carroll County Board of Supervisors and the Mississippi Association of Supervisors. Jeb Beck of Carroll Academy and Makenzie Weeks of Winona High School were the recipients of two $500 scholarships from the board.
Beck and Weeks were presented with their scholarships during the Carroll County Board of Supervisors meeting in Vaiden.
“I don’t really know Mr. Beck, but he seems like he’s a nice young fellow, but I’ve known Makenzie since she was in diapers and I know the two of you will make us proud,” Board President Rickie Corley said.
Weeks is the daughter of Jimmy and Clara Weeks and will be attending Northwest Mississippi Community College where she will major in biology. Weeks wants to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. Beck is the son of Patty and Danny Beck and will attend Holmes Community College in Grenada where he will major in nursing.
Corley said the board has been giving away the scholarship for a number of years. “We hadn’t had one to not use the money so that’s a good thing,” he said.
