NORTH CARROLLTON – Students, faculty and staff at J.Z. George will return to classes in mourning of Elisabeth Guerra, who lost her life last week.
Guerra, a 16-year-old junior, died of respiratory failure at her home in North Carrollton on July 26, according to her obituary provided by Oliver Funeral Home.
Guerra was considered a good student at J.Z. George, according to Assistant Principal Charles Rawls.
An ideal student, Guerra was “reserved” and “very caring” while maintaining good grades, according to Rawls.
She also was a “very talented artist,” he said.
Funeral services for Elisabeth were held on July 31 at the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joseph Sansing officiating.
Elisabeth is survived by her parents, Wensdae and Matthew Stafford of North Carrollton and Justin and and Brooke Tate of North Carrollton; sisters, Starla Strait of San Antonio, Texas and Skylar Morgan Guerra, Courtney Tate, Jacy Tate, and Abigail Tate, all of North Carrollton; brothers, Connor Tate, Lane Hibley and Colton Hibley, all of North Carrollton; her grandparents, Barbara Bergeron, Agee Blakely, Jim and Wilma Tate, Mike and Rebecca Everette, and Pamela Sue Stafford; her great-grandparents, Carol and Pete Stalnaker and Margie and Don Rowe; and a host of cousins, according to the obituary.
“We will provide counseling for any student who needs it when they return next week,” said Rawls “Elisabeth will definitely be missed.”
