NORTH CARROLLTON – Kids of all ages were at the Carroll County Recreational Park on Saturday for a day of family fun.
Park officials held the day event to bring attention to the park and the Beasley Creek Nature Trail and the benefits they offer Carroll County as well as draw people to recreational activity right in the county, according to George Johnson, park board director.
“We wanted to have some entertainment for the children and to draw people to the park,” said Johnson.
Recreational Park Director Art Hicks wanted to end summer park festivities with a colossal event, welcoming people from throughout the area to share in what the park has to offer while fellowshipping with neighbors and family, according to Johnson.
Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker participated by serving as a target for the young and old in the dunking booth.
“I had a lot of kids lined up, some inmates and my wife too. We had a lot of grownups too,” said Walker.
Being in the dunking booth as the object of amusement for many in attendance had its benefits, he said.
“I had the coolest seat in the house,” said Walker.
The large inflatables and other forms of entertainment brought families from all around to take part in a day at the park.
“It was a good turnout. They were coming in and out all while I was there,” said Johnson. “It was a carnival atmosphere.”
Johnson said Hicks has been working diligently to make improvements at the park since he was named director earlier this year.
