It was an up-and-down week for Carroll Academy as it swept Oak Hill but dropped two games to Marshall Academy.
Against Oak Hill, the Lady Rebels took a 66-49 win, while the Rebels took an exciting 35-33 win. Against Marshall, the Lady Rebels dropped a 45-38 game while the Rebels lost a 72-37 decision.
Carroll has just one game scheduled this week as they host Benton on Monday.
The Lady Rebels broke open a close game in the third period and took a 17-point win over the Lady Raiders of OHA.
Carroll led 11-8 at the end of the first but trailed 21-20 at the half. But the Lady Rebels exploded in the third as they outscored the Lady Raiders 27-12 to take a 47-32 lead into the fourth.
Caroline Mumme had a big game as she had 26 points and five steals. Shandy Rhea Tackett had 14 points and five rebounds while Belle Sanders had 12 points. Gracie Turner had nine points and 10 rebounds.
Marshall was able to overcome a first-half deficit and take a seven-point win, 45-38 Carroll led 8-6 at the end of the first and was tied at 19 at the half. The Lady Patriots took a slim two-point lead into the fourth at 28-26. But Marshall pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Carroll 17-12 to take the win.
Tackett led Carroll with 12 points while Turner had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Rebels
The Rebels overcame a five-point deficit in the fourth period to take the 35-33 win over Oak Hill.
After each team scored eight points apiece in the first period, Carroll took a 15-13 lead into the half. But Oak Hill outscored Carroll 11-4 in the third period to take a 24-19 lead into the fourth. But in the fourth, Carroll outscored Oak Hill 16-9 to take the win.
Reese Fulton led Carroll with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Logan Taylor had five points and eight rebounds. Morgan Mims also had five points.
Marshall jumped out early and ever looked back as it took a 35-point win over the Rebels.
Marshall led 25-2 at the end of the first and 37-12 at the half. The Patriots continued to cruise as they led 54-30 at the end of the third and outscored the Rebels 23-7 in the fourth.
Jacob Cutts led Carroll with 12 points and four rebounds while Fulton had 11 points and 16 rebounds. Michael O’Brien added nine points for CA.
