Board mulls possible rate increase

WINONA – The Board of Aldermen are mulling over a possible water rate increase due to a shortfall in the water budget.

According to JoJo Grammer of Mississippi Rural Water Association, the City of Winona has a $118,272.44 shortfall in its budget. The city has not raised water rates since 2011.

Carpenter, Noah going to run-off

The Carroll County race for Chancery Clerk will continue to a run-off on August 27, with Casey Carpenter taking on Christy Noah.

In Tuesday’s Democratic Primary Election, Carpenter led the three-way race with 1,402 votes. Noah came in second with 1,308 votes, and Monica Jones followed with 1,023 votes.
