Lady Rebels pick up two wins

The Carroll Academy girls picked up two big wins last week.

The Lady Rebels took a 44-35 win over Oak Hill on Tuesday and then beat Hebron Christian 48-34 on Friday.

The Rebels lost a hard-fought 33-32 contest to Oak Hill and then beat Hebron 66-38. 

Carroll is scheduled to host Central Holmes on Tuesday and will travel Indianola on Friday.

 

Carroll girls 44, Oak Hill 35

The Lady Rebels used a big fourth period to pull away and take a nine-point win over the Lady Raiders.

Carroll led 10-9 at the end of the first and 23-22 at the half. Oak Hill took the lead going into the fourth as they outscored Carroll 11-8 to lead 33-31. But the Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Raiders 13-2 in the fourth to take the win.

Bella Carter led Carroll with 12 points while Dru Chamblee had 11 points. Mary Lakyn Boutwell had nine points while Meri Bryne Reeves added seven points. 

Oak Hill boys 33, Carroll 32

In a tight game, the Raiders were able to hold on and take a one-point win over the Rebels on Tuesday.

In a low-scoring game, Oak Hill led 7-6 at the end of the first and 21-18 at the half. Oak Hill outscored Carroll 14-12 in the second and led 21-18 at the half. Carroll took the third period 7-6 to cut the lead to 27-25 going to the fourth. Carroll also outscored Oak Hill 7-6 in the fourth for the final margin.

Mathis Beck led Carroll with 10 points and eight rebounds while Noah Beck also had 10 points. Hunter Grantham had six points and 10 rebounds while Bryce Collier had six points and seven rebounds. 

Carroll girls 48, Hebron 34

The Lady Rebels built an early lead and cruised to a 14-point win over the Lady Eagles on Friday. 

In a fast-paced first period, Carroll outscored Hebron 18-16. But the Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Eagles 9-2 in the second to lead 27-18 at the half. Carroll extended that lead in the third period, outscoring Hebron 12-4 for a 39-22 lead going into the fourth. 

Bella Carter led Carroll with 17 points while Dru Chamblee had 15 points. Meri Brynn Reeves had seven points while Mary Laykn Boutwell added six points.

Carroll boys 66, Hebron Christian 38

The Rebels used a balanced scoring attack and the took a 28-point win over the Eagles.

Carroll started slow and led 11-7 at the end of the first period. The Rebels outscored the Eagles 15-12 in the second and l 26-19 at the half. The Rebels got rolling in the second half as they outscored the Eagles 18-13 in the third to take a 44-32 lead into the fourth. The Rebels then put the game away in the fourth, outscoring the Eagles 22-6 to put the game away.

Noah Beck led the Rebels in scoring with 18 points and seven rebounds. Hunter Grantham had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Mathis Beck had 10 points and six rebounds while Brett Harper added eight points. Bryce Collier also had seven points and six blocks on defense.
