The J.Z. George basketball teams were on the floor Tuesday night as they took on French Camp Academy in North Carrollton.
The Lady Jaguars are off to a 1-4 start with their lone win coming in a shortened game against Coldwater in their season opener. Since then, they have lost four in a row which includes three straight at their own tournament. J.Z. George lost to Ethel, Kosciusko and Winona.
The Jaguars picked up their first win of the season during the three-day tournament as they beat Ethel 79-76. J.Z. George, which lost its opener to West Tallahatchie, dropped its final two games of the tournament, falling to Kosciusko and Winona.
Both teams are under the direction of first-year coach Torrey Dale, who was previously at McAdams High School.
J.Z. George is at Ethel High School Friday night.
Three members of the J.Z. George football team were recently selected to the Region 3-3A team.
The Jaguars, who went 0-11 overall and 0-5 this past season in league play, were represented by offensive lineman Nathan Carpenter, linebacker Jordun Normal and punter Lance Mullen on the all-region team.
