Tigers defeat Eupora in opening

Senatobia swept the Winona basketball tournament last week, winning the boys and girls championships.

The Winona boys were runners-up with a victory over Eupora and a loss to Senatobia in the title game. The Winona girls lost twice in the tournament, but defeated Ray Brooks Friday night between tournament games Thursday and Saturday.


Jags come up a bit short

J.Z. George's girls and boys basketball teams will close out the week with games Friday at McAdams High School.

The home game against Kosciusko has been rescheduled for Jan. 11.

The Lady Jags and Jaguars were scheduled to play at Charleston High School Tuesday, but those games were postponed because of the inclement weather.












Jags steadily improving

J.Z. George first-year head coach Le'Quell Allen is hopeful his two teams are ready to turn the corner as December's portion of the schedule gets started.

The Lady Jaguars and Jaguars both played at Kosciusko High School Tuesday night. The girls went into that contest with a 2-6 record, while the boys are 3-5 overall.


Tigers hosting tournament

Winona will host a basketball tournament for boys and girls Thursday and Saturday.

The tournament kicks off at 4 p.m. Thursday with a girls game between Choctaw County and Senatobia. That will be followed by Choctaw County vs. Senatobia boys, Winona vs. Eupora girls, and Winona vs. Eupora boys.
