Sammie Hunt Sr., 95, of Weir died Feb. 12 at his home.
Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at Sanders and Sanders Funeral Home in Winona and from 11:30 a.m. until service began at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at First Unity United Methodist Church. There was not a viewing after the eulogy. Rev. Lyndon B. Geeter officiated and burial was in the church’s cemetery.
He was an inspector and a United States Veteran where he served in World War II. He was a member of First Unity U.M. Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Orvlie Hunt.
Mr. Hunt is survived by his daughters, Mary Frances McKinney and Armerille Johnson both of Weir and Jacqueline Eichelberger of Saginaw, Mich.; three sisters, Mamie D. Little of Weir, Bonnie Gilmore of Jackson and Mary Dunch of Sacramento, Ca.; three brothers, James Hunt of Ypsilanti, Mich., Townsend D. Hunt Jr. of Weir and Joe Miller of Evanston, Ill.; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-granchildren.
