Ruby Joyce “Jody” Baker, 72, of Carrollton died Monday, August 6, 2018, in Carroll County. Visitation was held 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Graveside services began at 2 p.m. at New Shiloh Cemetery in Carroll County, with Rev. Perry Irwin officiating.
Joyce was born June 22, 1946, in Charleston, MS, to James Gentry and Ella Frances Goad Gentry and graduated from Leflore County High School. She passed away peacefully from pancreatic cancer. She was a loving and dedicated mother, daughter, sister and an incredible friend. She leaves behind a kind and lasting legacy. She was a supervisor at John Richard for the last 231/2 years. She was preceded in death by her father, James Gentry, sister, Vicky Gentry, and brothers, Louis Gentry and Scott Gentry.
She is survived by her daughter, Marne’ Blake and loving son-in-law, Patrick Vaughn of Greenwood; sons, Edward Earl “Peewee” Baker, Jr. of Jackson, and Joshua Shane Baker of Greenwood; sisters, Emma Palmertree and husband, Ernie of Mountain Home, Ark., Wanda Robertson of Greenwood, and Altheia Hutchings of Greenwood; brothers, Roy Gentry of Mountain Home, Ark., Billy Gentry of Coila, Raymond Gentry and wife, Joyce of Greenwood, Henry Gentry and wife, Sue of Dickinson, N.D., and Wesley Gentry of Greenwood; eight-grandchildren, Tabatha Blake Andrews and husband, Ryan of Arlington, Va. Edward Earl “Trey” Baker, III of Jackson, Kyndale Baker of Greenwood, Dalton Blake of Greenwood, Joshua Shane Baker, Jr. of Greenwood, Shelby Baker of Athens, Texas, Katy Baker of Greenwood, and Hannah Baker of Greenwood; and her companion, John “Mule” Morgan of Greenwood. She had a long list of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart.
Pallbearers will be Andy Gentry, Michael Palmertree, William Hutchings, Camron Baker, Steve Kent, and Walter Harris Jr.
